From 1 May, boarding on 11 more public transport routes will be organised only through the front door
From 1 May, 11 more public transport routes – trolleybus route 11, 27 and 35, bus route 7, 9, 23, 26, 32, 44, 55 and 58 – will introduce a boarding procedure where passengers board public transport only through the front door and disembark through the middle and rear doors. The boarding procedure for passengers with baby carriages and people in wheelchairs remains the same and takes place through the middle door. This means that a total of 30 routes have the following boarding and alighting procedures.
The trip in these transportation routes must be registered at the driver’s console. Passengers who pay for the trip using the code ticket application must pay for the trip when they board the vehicle and show the driver the confirmation of the trip fee displayed on the phone. Thus, the driver will ensure that all passengers register and pay for the trip.
The goal is to change passenger behaviour so that they register every trip and reduce the number of people without tickets. It will also reduce the number of people who travel in public transportation wearing dirty or smelly clothes.
Since 1 February of this year, this procedure has been introduced on 19 public transport routes and, according to statistics, the number of registrations on these routes has increased by 24% on weekdays and by 33% on weekends. The relatively highest increase in registrations is between the first departure and 7 a.m. and in the evenings after 9 p.m.
